I managed to get a couple hours in this afternoon. This was the first time I fished since just after Christmas and cataract surgery. Nothing major size or number wise but it was fun just getting out .. finally. I probably ended up with 12 to 15 rainbows. The biggest was about 12" but full of fight. I was fishing the Flyrod Chronicle 3WT and caught fish on the hot pink bead and pink flash and some on the red and copper Zebra midge with the red T-bead. There was a guy in the run above me fishing crank baits and he caught about a 5lb brown .. fat and probably mid-20" range. The fish was last seen swimming happily away on the release. On the way out of the park I turned the corner to head up the hill. There was a doe in the road .. just standing there staring at me. She was in no hurry and just stood there. Every once in awhile she'd look back over her shoulder but I never saw any other deer. After a couple minutes she finally ambled across the road but still stood on the edge of the tree line watching me.
I talked with another guy tonight and he said he was fishing up near the dam. Two eagles were working that area pretty steadily and he said he did see one dive but didn't see anything in it's talons when it was back with it's partner. He also said a heron flew down and landed just a little ways away from him when he was landing a fish. He said he thought the bird was going to try to take his fish. Just a little craziness on a fun day I guess .....
