Arkansas has geologic faults and plates that run deep beneath the ground. Hot Springs, Eureka, Crater of Diamonds, and New Madrid, are all geologically active zones. The Ozarks themselves were built from the compression of two faults. New Madrid is one of only probably thousands of faults in Arkansas. To my knowledge Texas has never had a quake of any magnitude even though oil and gas has been produced for more than 100 years. |
