Brian,
In my opinion it is no better than other good quality lines, from Rio, Courtland, or other lines from SA.

I would agree with Davy for a caster such as he... However, I did cast the line last year and felt I could get al bit of extra distance out of it. Maybe it was
just me, but I sure felt it and the "fly" was certainly out there farther.
Maybe for the struggling caster who wants to add some distance, it would be worth it. For most anglers, though, I don't see a big advantage.

I will throw in my 2 cents... I think for roll casting and mending it is hard to beat. I think it releases off the water better than any other line. Is it
worth $100.00? I don't know. This is a question that I get a lot in my casting classes so I took a 6wt ss trout taper and put it on a reel .For 2 years I
have fished and lawn cast this line without cleaning it and so far so good. At this point I am impressed with its durability. As far as distance goes, I
don't think it will add a large amount of distance to your cast but I do think it makes achieving the distance a little easier. It does take a liitle while
to get used to the noise it makes however I like it because it gives you an idea of your line speed.

Here's a bit of a different angle to look at. One of the guys here at the fly shop used it one day on the White a couple years ago after one of the
winter's ice storms. There was ice on the river and sleet falling too. He said there was no problem with the guides icing up with the Sharkskin. The guy he
was fishing with wasn't so lucky and every other cast had frozen guides. I've used it lawn casting and personally wasn't really crazy about it.

The one major point that SA claimed with this line is its high float compared to other lines out there. The shooting capability is largely at the end of the
day down to the caster, as we have many other options of 5wts with different tapers that will far out cast distance wise this line.
Given what l have seen with the many lines customers use and my own experience, l would not say this is true, however, if you grease the line with mucilin it certainly rides high, which would be the case for many other fly lines also. I would agree that its durability is good compared to some others. DW

I fished a 5 weight Sharkskin a couple of years ago. Is it a good line? Yes, difinitely. Is it worth $100? NO WAY in my opinion. In fact, I get perfectly good
casting and fishability from my $26 lines I have bought from Hook and Hackle. They're made by Cortland, cast superbly, float well, are not bad on memory,
and a real bargain for $26. $100 lines?....I don't need them.

Brian, I just checked their web site, and their lines are $25. Hard to beat the quality for that price.

I fished a SS on a fast 5wt for an extended period of time and ultimately decided it was not for me. First, and most disappointing, in my experience it did
not float as well as most other good lines. In fact I was cleaning this line every night after use and after 4 hours or so the next day the front 5+ ft of the
line was sinking as well as some intermediate lines. I was not using any line treatment, mucilin, etc., just cleaning it with water and the SA sponge. The
theory behind the line of increasing surface area to enhance floatability was a total flop, at least for the line I had. I was fishing the White and other
clear water streams that are not turbid or otherwise dirty. I am concerned that the rough surface of the line may actually attract more dirt and lead to
sinking, but I can't say for sure this was the problem. I suppose I may have just had a bad line or something, but the poor floating killed my interest in
the line particularly at such a high price.
Second, I like to fish streamers and this line is pretty rough on your fingers when stripping. You can tape up your fingers, but overall why not just use another line? That said, I do think the line casts very very nicely. It shoots like a son of a gun. It is now available as a level shooting line for use with looped heads. That might be a nice use for SS. I don't intend to buy one again any time soon.

Dave l agree with what you say as that is also my experience, not worth a 100 bucks.
There are better lines at a way lower cost. DW
