Drovedown to the Browken Bow tailwater yesterday for some fishing between thunderstorms. Hooked up with several nice rainbows (and a few small browns) including this 21" fattie. Great day inspite of the weather.

Nice fish there Dan-o.
What was working for you? That Evening Hole is a pretty good place to get a trout fix. I was there this past Wednesday and Thursday and it was crazy crowded. Gonz Check your fly often. |

#18 zebra midge -- 1/16 black tungston bead, white (or tan) thread, and extra small black wire. Very simple but it catches a lot of fish. Thanks. Dan-o

Speaking about the LMF, has anyone fished the Upper Mountain Fork for Smallies?

Damn, thats the last thing, I want to hear about Didymo. Have they posted signs etc... about ways to help stop the spread of it? I have not made it down in the
past month because I hate this time of year with the crowds. I plan on going in 2 weeks, though.

holy cow, I had know idea this was here. My parents and in-laws live less than an hour from there. I'm always complaining about visiting them because it
eats into time I could be going over the Red or White. Looks like there are some nice fish coming out of there. How are the crowds? Dr. G, nice photos, looks
like they where taken out west someplace.

Crowds, haha! Dont go during the weekend unless you like fishing elbow-to-elbow!
There is a joke, Texas wants to annex the area because of how many of them visit the area. |

I was referred to this site from a buddy here in OKC, and wow lots of great info and discussions.
Dr. Gonzoe I'm jealous of your underwater shots... I just picked up an olympus stylus tough 8000 and haven't mastered the art of the underwater pic yet. None of them turn out that great, you have any secrets?? I thought I'd add that I fished the lmfr river this past weekend and had a great time (though had to battle the crowds) exploring the post-flood setup. Looks like we had another successful spawn out here too!!!
Caught them in the spillway (below the now non-existant upper footbridge and in the EH). I had a hard time avoiding the glare (alot to learn when it comes to photography) and I didn't want to take much time for the photo op so apologies for the less than perfect quality! |

That was helpful info Mark. I think I've been holding the camera too close... I'll have to try backing it off some. That picture is incredible... makin
me want to turn around and head back to the lmf to get some good underwater shots. The muddy local waters just don't cooperate. For having junk on the lens
it sure did turn out nice. I'm excited to see what the underwater shots from the g10 look like. I assume its a waterproof housing?? I thought about picking
up the canon d10, but it seemed to0 bulky. I'm definitely happy with the tough 8000, just have to learn all the settings, between sub-par underwater shots
and alot of glare on fish shots I've been a little frustrated at times!

Nice! Thanks Mark, I'm glad you enjoyed it... Hope to get better as I go and if you're ever needing a carpin' fix in the okc area let me know and
we'll chase em down

Has anyone fished post flood?

Those little "wild" ones were caught post flood... lots of debris everywhere, but the spillway and EH were both fishing very well (z2/3 were still
blown out, but they're backing off the constant generation schedule now)

I need to get over there and check that place out. I was wondering how things were since the flooding occured.
I hear that the weekends there can be quite crowded. The words the fella' used were combat fishing. I think I will get a wide berth if they see my stylish casting style and lack of skill. |

You should definitely check it out... I like things better post-flood. The crowds will be there through summer, but you could always escape on the Spillway if
the Evening Hole gets crowded. It's tougher for the bank fishermen to set up their lawn chairs and dunk their powerbait thanks to all the carnage lining
the banks. zone 2 is also a good get away if they're not generating (which they've backed off from recently). I've been hearing some rumors of some
monster fish in z2 recently. Haven't been able to get down for a weekend get away recently to check it out though.
Whoever said combat fishing wasn't joking around... Lots of poachers have been on the Evening Hole recently... I tried to resize the pic so that it wouldn't be so obnoxiously large, but left it pretty big so you could still make out all the people all the way through the hole, let me know if its still too big and I'll take it down. EDIT: I hear some of the debris pictured above in the EH has been removed...

Looks like a swim area for people with weed whacking sticks. Must be pretty good fishing if there are that many folks there.
The fella' that called it "combat fishing" is this forum's very own Dr Gonzoe. I have the dubious honor of knowing him. He raised my awareness of fly fishing and my college buddies have set the hook. I'm new to fly fishing and am enjoying myself. I've got a lot to learn. I plan on doing a lot of learning on this very same stretch of water.- If by chance we meet on the water, I'll be the guy with the fly stuck in his backside and leaky waders. Seriously though, I'll let you know if I'm coming up that way to fish. Its safer to keep your distance...I promise.
