I knew full well that the few hours of generation we had yesterday, that shut down around 7.30pm, would lift a ton of crap from the river bed and shorelines.
But l have to say l did not expect to see what l saw to day, just about the worst l have ever seen here, at least suface wise.
Given the time deal water should have been reasonably clean at that end, and more so to ward Rim.
Put in at Ranchett, the water was covered in dead rotting algae Matt's and didy. Below the surface the water column was not that bad.
Ran all the way up stream to Rim and still in the thick of it.
You could not cast a line on clean water, and often as not my guys would have to recast again and again just to find a slot that the fly could sink below the mass of snot.
It did start to clear as the day went on and the trash moved downstream.
5 days of no generation, 80f temps, high water temps, didy and all else of course had contributed to this mess.
Min flow, ok when.
At the end of the day we ended up with a great number fish day, 5 Browns and stacks of Bows, oh and a big bull Blugill.
Prey for good rain, and some serious high water to clean this crap out of the system.
We sure do not need low water and 80f for any period of time at this time of the year.
