Fished below the dam in my kick boat for the first time in several months. I started at the ramp at the dam about 10am and worked my way down to almost the turnaround and back finishing about 3:30. The wind created a little chop so fished a dark olive jig (actually a wooly bugger on a jig hook) and dropped a root beer midge. Had about 50 takes and landed maybe a forth or third. About 2/3 on the midge with the rest on the jig. Some 10 takes per hour is rather slow for Beaver, but the weather was great for February (or any month for that matter). Fish seemed to be scattered - one here and another there. Wind made it a little tough, but overall a good day. Very few fly fishermen and no one seen fishing bait.
