I was fishing the other day in the "kiddie pool" above swinging bridge on the little red. I call it the kiddie pool because fish will hold in this area in pretty good numbers.
I was catching fish pretty regularly on a 20 bh midge and 7x when a guy started fishing to my left. He kept working his way across the river so that eventually he was casting exactly into my drift line. He wasn't a rookie. I kept catching fish in front of him as he constantly kept changing flies. An older man and his grandson were fishing that side of the river, but they were nice and stayed out of my way and I did theirs. Bubba didn't though and I knew he was going to open his mouth and ask the proverbial question of "what are you catching those fish on"?
Well, being the gentleman that my wife says I am, I replied "I wouldn't tell you for anything". I then went into my spiel about wading in and fishing a guys run was pretty rude.
I caught a few more fish and decided to go find some more water. I told the grandson to come across the river and I would rig him up, which I did. I also, told him to pile in on that guy fishing since he had no respect for other fishermen. That wasn't the right thing of me to tell the young man.
As I was leaving I reminded the guy that having respect for others on the river will help him out when he asks for help.
You know, that guy reeled up and headed off down the river, embarrassed I hope.
