Jimmy:

From what I can tell it looks as though Rick has all but saved the forest rivers. No wonder he has been such a recluse for the last few months with this looming over his shoulder.

The Forest Service has used a "model" for the last few decades that determined the effects of logging in the Ozark National Forest. The small mouth streams such as the Mulberry were the effect of such logging practices. Rick discovered some fatal mathematical flaws with this model that would not give a true picture of the effects of such logging.

In summary Rick may have basically saved the streams in the Ozark National Forest single handedly from certain destruction. The more I find out about the issue the more I am impressed with Ricks fortitude and concern for the Ozarks. It seems as though he has put his career on the line for the sake of doing what is right. The article indicates that rick has endured considerable pressure to "keep quiet" and maintain the status quo.

Thank you Rick for all your good works! I grew up fly fishing those streams. Keep us posted on the progress of the situation (if you can). It looks as though you have your hands full. Just know that we all support your efforts and you are not alone.
