I didn't do well on my trip to the white this week. It was my first time and it wasn't quite what I expected. I rented a boat and went up from wildcat. I was told not to go through wildcat shoal or up from tucker shoal. I never even noticed tucker shoal and made it up near white hole without any problem. With a jet and a wider boat it would have been a cinch. Wildcat shoal didn't look much more than a riffle but I was told by locals that I wouldnt make it and the boat was rented so I didn't try. I am used to fishing structure like wood, log jams but I didn't see anything like that. The fish seemed to sit around weed beds but the was a decent amount of boat traffic so they didn't look to willing to eat. Saturday there was a tournament and like 25 boats launched at wildcat. I'm just not used to the crowds and figured all the commotion would put the fish down. The only bit of success I had was wading way down river after dark. 1 22' and a couple in the upper teens. I learned a lot about the river and surrounding areas. Maybe if I come next year the conditions will be better.
