Number one for me is Sweeny Todd black marabou muddler or shall l say a variation of the orginal walker pattern, in sizes of 2/4/6 LS.
That fly has caugth plenty of 20 to 30 inchers over the years. Its a deadly dark day night time fly. Zoo cougar can also be good as is the standard Don Gapen gold muddler or with a silver body at times.
Not fussed on the modern age fancy flies to be honest.
Choose mainly to use a intermediate line either type 1 or 2, at night a dry or a short section sink tip, generally do not bother with fast sinkers on this river.
We got 3 gooduns last week and two yesterday evening fishing traditional wets, those all small flies size 10 standard, DWMD being the killer. Do not assume you need always big flies as that is far from the truth.
