I did that test with a glass cigar tube.
Made a line with a sharpie about 1/3 of the way up then filled it with water up to that line. Then added gas and shook.
The gasoline will float to the top and the water will stay on bottom. If the Gas has ethanol in it it will be absorbed by the water as alcohol has an
affinity for water thus the water level will be above the sharpie line you made on the tube. If there is none the water level will remain at the same level as the mark you made.



Very easy test.

I'm sure the ones you buy will tell ya how much ethanol is actually in the gas.
