Time to head through the park via the North East entrance,
Into the park and right out through Gardiner to Livingston. First stop Dan Baileys fly shop for a Montana license and a visit to the back bargain room. Pat says don't get me a license right now. After leaving she drops me off at the park and Yellowstone river. She goes to do laundry and I go to catching fish. Can't beat a deal like that can you? I catch a couple of bows and get picked up and we head for another campground back up the river out of town to the KOA and a nice hot shower. Nope no shower in the camper either. A good night of rest and the next morning we head for Emrigrant to yet another fly shop. Asked about the main river and about Big Creek. Both were fishing well so a trip up 89 South until we get to the Big Creek exit. Up a forest service road 4.5 miles to an acccess point which consisted of one parking spot and picknic table. Out goes Pat's lawn chair for fresh air and on go my waders. Note I fished Big Creek once last year and caught some mighty small bows and a whitefish. I was told there were cutts in there and now that I might know what I was doing maybe I would succeed?

Big Creek,
This was a fast big rock fast sloped creek. Off I go for about a quarter mile walk upstream to fish. Low and behold I had learned something. Cutts, three to the net, four lost. Six small bows and I can't figure out how but there was this one whitefish with there little pea sized mouth thtt managed to inhale in a size eight hopper. I suppose they have the same suction as a bluegill? The cutts matched close to size to the ones caught one our trip with the guide in Wyoming. No camera for photos sorry. We have only one and Pat had it. She got to see a bear at this spot last year and said she had to have it in case! hahaah Most places you could stand in the middle and touch each side of the creek bank. Two hours of this and back to the Yellowstone, up to Gardner for a bison burger and to regroup. We then bridge hopped fishing back to the KOA. I caught several more bows and a couple of cutts doing this. This area gets pounded pretty hard and most of the fish had sore mouths where they had been caught before. Another nights sleep and back to the park for more fishing action,
