I have been told as well that they are Chestnut Lamprey. They are a native species to the White as well. I'd guess that they mostly stay down river through the Calico Rock area and come in with the browns as they move up river.

However for some reason I do not see nearly as many of them on the upper White River (Rim and above). I have no idea why they are more prolific in the Norfork except that maybe it has something to do with the PH, O2 levels, etc.
