Wet wading anyone? |
Lead | ||
|
I will be camping at JFK on the LRR in July and hope to fish (generation permitting). As hot as it is, I was wondering if wet wading is an option and if so,
if anyone has any tips?

If it is hot enough, I will wet wade and it is hot enough. I wear long quick drying pants and my wading boots (you will enjoy the protection
they supply your feet). I have a pair of neoprene booties that make my boots fit like I had waders on. I do not tuck the pants into the boots so the water will
drain quickly as I move around. I also wear heavy socks as I do when I wear waders. Don't forget your wading staff.

Can't beat wet wading in this heat wave, BSD may be a little different when the water hits your goolies, kind of cold there.
Dally will understand this Ok. so will Gonzoe. I wet waded a few times with the new Keens shoes, no problem, those Simms wade sandal's are also good, mine now worn out. Like JB said take a staff with you, that adds unreal purchase for you when wading. DW

Goolies?
OK... Good advice JB.... I wet wade with flip flops. Though I have the boat with me as well just in case I loose one of 'em.... Love the quick drying britches. Don't wear under wear though as it chafes ..... Plus I hear it is not legal in some parts of Florida to go without undies. Whats the word in Wales Davy? Jimmy T. |

I too wet wade from now thru September. Love the quick dry wading pants since I've experienced horrible chigger attacks if I wear shorts. Mr. Wotton is
right on the money when he forwarns of goolie pain. As the water deepens and hits your lower unit, the pain accompanies and a transformation takes place. The
body goes from the " hung like a mule" mode to "bald headed man peekin' out of a bush" look.

Patrick, I think this comes under the concept of shrinkage.

I know all about water hitting your goolies. First trip up to the Colorado & Frying Pan rivers in CO taught me all about why people wear waders. Wet
wading is fun, but think before you go stand in a freezing river like barely pop can bobbing in the cooler. ;) Still laughing about the bald man reference.
Good one.

flybonics,
did you happen to spill any floatant? If not, wrap some lead wire around it.

This is by far one of the funniest threads I've ever read. Goolies, bald men, and floatant. What can I say, I have nothing to add....laughing to hard.
