Hope that all went well today with Fishing Derby at Quarry. I worked the Cub Scouts Fishing Derby at Amon Lake from 7:30 to 11:30. What a Blast that was for
sure! Never put so much bait on, changed hooks, fixed lines and UNTANGLED lines in my life! Would not change a minute of it to see the little fellows catch
those catfish! I got hooked in the leg, in my HAT, thank goodness for the HAT, and made it without getting "Finned" A very good day and was glad
to see some of the "Flyfishing Buddies" there also. Hope all went well with the Badges Dan, Good to see you and hope that your grandson got to catch

Same here we all had a great time with the kids at Norfork, not such a large crowd as years before, something around 140 l believe.
Best fish was caught by a sweet little girl at 15 ins and best number caught was 15. As a matter of interest B, was the event at Amon only for Cub/Scouts or was it open to the public. How many do you think showed up there. Davy

Barbara it was great meeting you. Thanks to you and your group for the help with the cubs.
Afterwards I went over to Dry Run with 3 Boy Scouts who I have been helping with their FF Merit Badges. They spent 3 days prior learning casting, trying, and general FF knowledge. The trip to Dry Run was the culmination of the Badge requirements. All 3 caught fish and say they will continue with fly fishing. And yes Skyler hooked a few before the Boy Scouts arrived. For you info, yes it was only for cub scouts. They do it as an annual event. As for numbers I would estimate 40 to 50 kids. Would you agree B? Dano

Barbera , Davy and everbody else who gave time and effort ,Thanks! Lots of memories made I'm sure.. I well rember the man who took me trout fishing for the
first time ..I was 13 and had been looking at these beautiful fish called trout in Field&Stream, Outdoor Life ,Etc.. As it was abut 70 mi. to the
mountains these were exotic , unobtainable fish.. On April 15 th 1960 He took me and I still have many memories of that trip.. One, the rainbows were grey..
Hatchery fish but trout never the less.. That afternoon I met and talked with an "OLD GUY" ..He opened a wicker creel and two beautiful fish he
called Browns were laying on wet ferns in his creel..I can still see those fish today.. I had "Seen The Elephant".. I need to do more volunteer

We had a total of 63 Cub Scouts from 6 different Pks. The water was very muddy from the rain the nite before and not any BIG fish caught by the boys, but
they sure did have a good time. All the boys received some kind of prize. By the way Dan, I had your net if you had not turned around to come and get it, was
going to bring it to you at DryRun. Our Elks Lodge in Mountain Home always helps with this event along with a number of other events involving Kids. We have
members in Searcy right now at Camp Quality, a camp for children with cancer, for a week. Dave, you are so very right, it never hurts to give back a little
of what someone did for you as a child. I was 15 or 16 when I went to Gastons for the 1st time and did not know what a "Trout" was, some nice man
felt sorry for me and helped me rig my pole and catch my First Trout! Just so happens that Man was Jim Gaston and I even missed High School Grad. to go back
that weekend. Told them to mail the Piece of Paper, I had fish to catch! LOL Barbara
