Posts: 164 (08/08/08 11:56:42) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None All, I have an opportunity to buy some used gear from a guy who hasn't fished them more than once or twice if at all. I'd like to know what you think of these models of rods and reels. Loomis Trilogy 9', 5 wt - 3 piece - Ross Reel (dont know which) 5 wt line, spare spool with 5 wt, sink tip. $250 - used 2 times Sage XP790-4-9' - Lamson size 3 reel and extra spool - same setup as above.. spare had a sink tip line on it. $300 - never used Sage 996-4RPL - Lamson size 3 reel - same spare spool, sink tip setup as above.$300 - never used. He also has a Sage LL 389 3wt and a Winston 3 wt that i'm not interested in. Any info on the others? Thanks! B

I have no idea what the reels or lines are. I hope the lines will be marked. I'm not sure what I will keep and what I will sell. Having never owned a heavier rod than a 6 Weight, I'm wondering what the heck I need a 9 wt rod for. I bass fish with conventional tackle and have never done any salt water fishing. I don't see that in my future either... So, I'm considering selling the 9 wt and perhaps one of the 3's - the Winston most likely. Let me know if you are interested in either. B

I have never been fishing in Canada or Alaska, but you could use a 9 wt there. I love my little 3 wt and use it when I should be using a 5 wt. It's just so light and fighting fish is a blast. They can be pretty small and still provide lots of fun. I love small streams. Like the ones posted recently. Great equipment blutcherama.

If you decide to let loose of it let me know. Also, there is a line scale available that will give you the weight of most fly lines. To bad it won't give the make and model.

I have an un-built 389LL blank and would buy the XP; I would fish the rod and sell the reel. And have a 596-4 for which Davy speaks, not to mention a few or more others... Later, asg my first rod was, still have it, a 590-4, DS2.

Unfortunately, the guy passed away a few days ago, so I wrote the check to his widow. :-( The problem I have now is what to keep and what to sell off. I am meeting a guy in my area tomorrow to trade the hard Flyweight for a 10 ft Sage RPL. 5 wt. This means I can sell my TFO Pro series 10 ft 5 Wt with mid-arbor Orvis Battenkill reel. Anyone interested? I don't know if I need two 3 wts, but they seem to be the most interesting and high quality rods in the collection. I need to fish them and see. The LL is 8'9" and the Winston is 7' 6" so, I'd bet they will have different applications. I'm excited to have the 7 and 9 wts for if I ever get to fish in saltwater or for bass fishing. Can anyone see a need for me to have both the 10' Sage RPL 5 wt and the Loomis Trilogy 9' 5 wt? I might sell the Loomis. Anyone interested? I also have a TFO 9' 4 weight with Orvis Battenkill reel and Rio line I will probably sell. Anyone interested? Also, I have a 7' 6" Sage SPL 1 wt. that I've owned for many years. I haven't fished it in ages. The Winston feels a lot like it and will be used in the same situation, so I'm thinking of selling that one even though it is a favorite. Anyone interested? What's a nice SPL 1 wt worth these days. Thanks! B
