The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a study of alternatives to a source of drinking water for the residents in the River Valley Regional Water District (RVRWD). Currently, the Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District and its contractor GEC Inc. are collecting input from agencies and the public.

Just curious what your thoughts are regarding these. I like the idea of doing WHATEVER I can to help keep streams clean, but the realist in me wonders how much good these actually do. I noticed Taney has quite a few and was told by the local MDC conservationist that they try to place them in heavily used areas. He said placing them in more remote areas would do good for about as long as they were there before being torn down by others. Do any of the outfitters or dock owners have them along...

I met up with Russ of Hog Heaven Campground and a few others to float a few miles of the Elk and cleanup. The high waters had unearthed alot of trash(ancient beer cans) and dumped a bunch of stuff in the roots and trees along the banks. There were six peolpe in all to show up. We filled two canoes, two kayaks, and a flat bottom boat. A washing machine, window AC unit, and a 50gal plastic barrel were among the larger items we loaded up.
