$100 for a line is really pushing others to raise prices, is it not ?

Help DS11 wants to learn to fly fish

DS's bd is coming up next week and he'll be 11. He loves fishing and now wants to learn to fly fish. Dh wants to play a special trip to take him away for the weekend. Is a guide the best way? Where to go? Who to use? This is brand new and dh has never fly fished either. We live in NW Arkansas. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ever so often I run into a level silk line for a really low price. What's the bad and the ugly about level lines? There must be something since you don't see them in the stores any more.

I purchased a used Albright 10# a couple of years ago and suffice to say it's been a cursed rod. I broke it within the first half dozen times used and the repair guys then lost it for over 6 months. Got it back and some of the cork immediately began to come off. I didn't want to send it back to get repaired, so, I lived with it. I'm pretty lazy and I left it strung up in my car and also left my dog in the car. Bad idea....he broke the tip but it was my fault. Couldn't...

After a few brief sessions with my wife to be I have decided that she will do better reading up on how to cast first and then letting me watch and give a small pointer now and then. Sometimes the ones you love are hardest to teach..they take everything personally.. Anyone have any recomendations on some good books to look for?

Went casting with cmorris(Chris) last Tuesday. He brought up the idea of a distance casting competition. I thought it was a good idea, because if nothing else it is a good reason to practice and it seems like the type of thing that you can drink a beer after. My questions are, can you legitametly hold a contest on dry ground and how many people would be interested in a distance competition in the LR or Heber area?

Hoping to use my 10 ft. 7wt with a Lamson Radius 3.5 for some shallow water bay fishing(kayak) for spec's and smallish redfish. Would my Rio Grand line be ok? Small Stream Rod

I am looking at getting a 7'6" 3or4wt rod for the smally streams around here. I like the idea behind the "Bluegill" rod from sage, but am also drawn to their TXL line. I would assume the "Bluegill" would have a bit more backbone than the other, but was wondering if thre were any other pertinant differences. Any thoughts/opinions on either?
